Subject: [PAWG] Docker training (repeat) next week

Hi Everyone,

For those of you that missed the Docker tutorial today I will give a repeat tutorial hosted at UCSC (and online) sometime next week. If you’re interested, vote for your preferred time here:

http://doodle.com/poll/7wuke8w5ykirgehe

If this proves useful we’ll develop more advanced tutorials describing how to build workflows and run them on various clouds.

Hope this helps!

Brian

The topics will include what is Docker, how to create tools using it, and how to leverage the Dockstore to share tools with the wider community.

If this tutorial proves useful, I’ll repeat it so those of you that can’t make it next Thursday have an opportunity to take it. If possible, I’ll record a screencast as well.

Docker-based tools are extremely convenient for running the same tool in a wide variety of environments, both cloud and HPC-based. This tutorial will be extremely helpful as the PCAWG project moves to the publication phase and our tools need to be shared with the wider community.
